Rinsing Fish

Food safety experts say that raw food such as fish shouldn’t be rinsed prior to preparation as rinsing them spreads harmful bacteria around your kitchen. The bacteria present in raw fish, which are colorless and odorless, are killed during proper cooking. It’s best to buy fish already gutted and cleaned by your trusted fishmonger before you take it home. If you must rinse your fish, do so with cold water and clean your kitchen station immediately after to avoid cross contaminating other foods you’ll prepare.
